The Polar Walk coming up on Wednesday, Feb. 13th 2013
Special events for this year include:
- Hidden stuffed polar bears (2 per school)
- Snow-flake backpack tokens to be given out as incentives
- Hot chocolate or other warm drinks will be given out to all participating students and parents in the event!
- UI athlete and student volunteers will be helping out
- Walking School Bus Challenge (win a prize for your school if your get the highest % of walkers walking in Walking School Buses)
Students and parents are encouraged to walk together in Walking School Buses for this event. Please contact your school’s PTA/PTO leader to find a Walking School Bus that will be walking near you! Walking School Buses are a fun safe way to walk together. Create a theme, stop at a park on your way, make it fun! Please take pictures and send them to our web-site for a change to win a prize.
Walking together improves safety around our schools, decreases congestion, and creates feelings of community, so grab your mitts and join your friends to walk on Feb. 13th!
