Safe Routes to School Moscow– invites young artists to share their artwork about active travel! Active travel is any travel that uses human energy…walking, biking, boarding, sledding etc. If you get to school without a car, we want to see your art about it! Safe Routes also encourages ride sharing so art about busing and carpooling is also welcome.
Who: Students K-9 in Moscow Idaho are welcome to participate! Due to space limitations, 15 art pieces will be accepted from each school (unless otherwise notified). It is up to each school to select (either by random selection or a competitive process) 15 pieces to submit to the exhibit.
What is active travel art? Active Travel art is any art form that is inspired from using your body to get yourself to school. We will accept drawings, paintings, poetry, short stories, collages, photography, framed collections, etc. We’re hoping your art will tell us a story of your travels to school; what you see along the way, a frame of things you found, what you like about actively traveling to school etc. For more ideas, see www.SR2Smoscow.com
When: Artwork will be collected from each school by 4:00 on Tuesday, March 27th 2012. The Art Exhibit will be displayed in City Hall from March 30th – April 24th 2012.
Media forms: All forms of media are welcome! Anything that fits onto an 8×11 sheet of paper mounted flush on black foam board (see mounting instructions on reverse). Safe Routes provide and deliver the foam board, wire and tape to all the school’s requesting submission. We encourage all words, poems etc. to be hand-written, since writing is a form of art as well!
Art Exhibit Reception: Friday, April 13th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Moscow City Hall. All participants and participant’s families will be invited to the reception, light refreshments served. The exhibit will be open to the public during regular hours at City Hall, 9am – 5pm Monday- Friday.
